Tony Nominee John Dossett Ready to Join Broadway's CHICAGO Following Injury

This Saturday, March 14, Broadway's Tony Award-winning, record-breaking musical smash Chicago is pleased to welcome Tony nominee John Dossett in his debut engagement as Billy Flynn.

As previously announced, Dossett was originally slated to debut as Billy Flynn in January, but was sidelined with an unrelated injury during his final week of rehearsals.

His ten-week limited engagement will now commence with the 2:30 p.m. matinee this Saturday, and will continue through Sunday, May 24.

Dossett has appeared in 15 Broadway shows including Pippin, Newsies, Prelude to a Kiss, The Constant Wife, Democracy and the 2003 revival of Gypsy, for which he received a Tony Award nomination.

With more than 30 Off-Broadway credits, he has performed with a variety of acclaimed theatre companies including Circle Rep, Ridge Theater, Lincoln Center, The Public Theatre, Playwrights Horizons and The Kennedy Center.

His numerous television and film credits include "The Good Wife," all of the "Law and Order" franchises, "Homicide," "Blue Bloods," "The Americans," Man on a Ledge, Little Manhattan and Longtime Companion.

In the role of Billy Flynn, Dossett takes over for Drama Desk nominee Alexander Gemignani, who plays his final performance on Friday, March 13.

CHICAGO also stars Grammy Award winner and country music superstar Jennifer Nettles as Roxie Hart (through March 29), Carly Hughes as Velma Kelly (through March 29), Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart, NaTasha Yvette Williams as Matron "Mama" Morton and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.

With a legendary score by John Kander and Fred Ebb, and a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, Chicago is the longest-running American musical in Broadway history -- and it shows no sign of ever slowing down!
Produced by Barry and Fran Weissler, Chicago is the winner of six 1997 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Cast Recording.

Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, Chicago is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today's tabloids.

CHICAGO is directed by Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Tony Award winner Ann Reinking, with set design by John Lee Beatty, costume design by Tony Award winner William Ivey Long, lighting design by Tony Award winner Ken Billington and sound design by Scott Lehrer.
