There are four chances to see Musical Theatre Factory's Ain't Far From Home at Playwrights Rehearsal Studios (440 Lafayette St, 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10003): Thu, Apr 27 @ 7pm (Rm 3A); Fri, Apr 28 @ 3pm (Rm 3D); and Sat, Apr 29 @ 3pm & 7pm (Rm 3A).

Starring Cicily Daniels Macias and Mimi Bessette, Ain't Far From Home features book & lyrics by Sukari Jones, music by Ben Krauss, and is directed by Kimberly Loren Eaton, with music direction by Cynthia Meng.

A slave drives the elderly lady of the big house in a horse-drawn buggy, deciding whether or not she will return the mistress to her home where a bloody slave uprising is planned for the evening.

A black teenage cook weighs leaving behind the white actress who has been like a sister to her on their showboat against running off to Vaudeville to try for her dreams.

A pair of 9-year-old girls meet meet on a bus in the Jim Crow South, and discover that they are both running away from the same town and event for different reasons.

A 3-person, 100 minute original musical triptych, AIN'T FAR FROM HOME is a journey between a black woman and a white woman, reincarnated over time as they try to connect in female solidarity while being separated by race. AIN'T FAR FROM HOME invokes a dialogue on "feminism" as it intersects with race, nodding to our American past and asking us as a nation, "Where are we headed?"
