Mo Brady and Nikka Graff Lanzarone announce the release of The Ensemblist's 42nd episode: "Spotlight On: Costumes!"

Nikka and Mo are elated to bring you the latest edition of their "Spotlight On" series, which began in April 2014 to highlight behind-the-scenes careers on Broadway. On this episode of The Ensemblist, listeners get the chance to hear from three different roles in the Broadway wardrobe realm: designing costumes, supervising the wardrobe crew, and helping dress actors on a day-to-day basis. John Michael Dias, Tree Lonon, and Tobin Ost share their memories of getting started in the world of wardrobe, the process of opening a Broadway show from a costume perspective, the kind of upkeep it really takes for all those costume pieces, and those quick changes that make Broadway so dang spectacular.

Dias has a unique Broadway career, transitioning back and forth between acting (Jersey Boys) and working on wardrobe crews (On The Town, Scandalous). He talks about how his involvement with the costuming side of productions started at a young age. Lonon (A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder, The Book of Mormon, Gypsy, Mamma Mia!), who has worked on over 20 Broadway shows, explains the daily rituals (both onstage and off) that come with being a dresser, as well as how quick changes are carefully orchestrated. Ost (Jekyll & Hyde, Bonnie And Clyde, The Philanthropist, Brooklyn) discusses how both the script and interactions with ensemblists during the rehearsal process help influence costume design decisions.
