I LOVE YOU SO MUCH, KUROSAWA & More Set for Hideout Theatre Announces 2014 Season

The Hideout Theatre has announced its entire 2014 season of Mainstage Shows. The shows will take on various issues from love, to 70s bad girls, to Kurosawa and more. All shows are set to run Saturday nights at 8 p.m. The shows take place on the mainstage of the Hideout Theatre, 617 Congress Ave. Tickets and more information are available online at www.hideoutheatre.com or by phone at (512) H-I-D-E-O-U-T.

"This year I think we've created a program that encompasses a wide variety of compelling theatrical styles. We're tackling a classic playwright, two wildly different film genres, love stories, worldwide interactivity, and the classic competitive improv format that the Hideout was founded on," said Roy Janik, Artistic Director of The Hideout Theatre. "It's going to be a wild year, and I can't wait."

January/February
I Love You So Much

I Love You So Much weaves together improvised love stories. This is more than just romantic love. These will be interconnected stories about familial love, the love between friends, romantic love, and more. Each week will feature the intimate, humble and inspiring stories of the lives of three very different people - all from the suggestions of the audience. The show is directed by Roy Janik and Jessica Arjet.

March/April
Kurosawa

Samurai. Swords. Honor.Betrayal. In this new project, The Hideout takes on the style of Akira Kurosawa. Each week audiences will journey to feudal Japan to experiences epic tales of corruption, power, betrayal, and more in the style of the legendary director of of SevenSamurai. This show is directed by The Hideout's Kareem Badr and Shannon McCormick of Gnap! Theatre Projects.

May/June
TheatreSports

Theatresports is an improv format created by Keith Johnstone, whose teachings form the basis of The Hideout's own improv style and philosophy. In the show, two teams go head to head, issuing improv challenges to one another. Not just games, but scenes, tests of intelligence, and much more. In the perfect Theatresports show, anything can happen.

July/August
International Improv Experience

This bold new project, The Hideout is partnering with improv theatre companies from around the world to create cross-continental blend of video, improv, and theatrical collaboration. This new experience is directed by Roy Janik.

September/October
Reform School For Wayward Girls

Some of Austin's best female improvisers travel back into the 70s and relocate to an all-female reform school. Each week, they will be under lock and key in this fun, sexy, and smart new show directed by Kaci Beeler.

November/December
Nothing and Everything

Anton Chekov is arguably the most celebrated post-Shakespearean playwright. Each week, the cast will create an improvise play, in the style of Chekov. This new show is directed by Jon Bolden.
