Malinda LaVelle's Project Thrust Presents Emmaly Wiederholt in COVER GIRL

Malinda LaVelle's Project Thrust is excited to present Cover Girl, the company's fifth evening-length dance-theater performance. Cover Girl is a one-woman solo show performed by founding member and dancer Emmaly Wiederholt. The piece dissects declarations of fraud, dreams of gratification, and the facades people often put on for themselves and for others. In March 2016, artistic director Malinda LaVelle and dancer Emmaly Wiederholt created Cover Girl during a weeklong artist residency together at The Peñasco Theater in Peñasco, NM.

Originally based in San Francisco, CA, Malinda LaVelle's Project Thrust splashed onto the Bay Area dance scene in 2010 with its brazenly unapologetic and culturally relevant content. The company quickly generated support and acclaim from audiences and funders within the community. Malinda is an ongoing guest faculty member and artist-in-residence at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance and her work has been shown in Ben Levy's Salon, in The Garage's raw and uncut residency, in the Women on the Way Festival, in CounterPULSE's 2nd Sundays, at ODC Theater, at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, and at Z Space. Project Thrust has been nominated for an Isadora Duncan Award, and Malinda has been commissioned by the University of San Francisco to create new work. Project Thrust has received grants from CA$H Theater Bay Area, the Zellerbach Family Foundation, and the ODC Kenneth Rainin Scholarship Fund.

Malinda now resides in Durango, CO, and Cover Girl marks Project Thrust's first performance in the Southwest.

Emmaly Wiederholt, a native New Mexican, returned to the Land of Enchantment in 2014 after a performance career in San Francisco. Locally, she has performed at the Railyard Performance Center as part of Ground Series and at the Santa Fe Community Gallery as part of the Strangers' Collective. Also a writer, she contributes dance and theater reviews to the Santa Fe Reporter, as well as serves as editor of Fine Lifestyles Santa Fe Magazine. Emmaly is the founder and editor of Stance on Dance (stanceondance.com) and the author of "Beauty is Experience: Dancing 50 and Beyond." She is glad to perform with Project Thrust again.
