BWW Interviews: Registration Now Open for THE LITTLE MERMAID at Broadway Academy of Performing

Broadway Academy of Performing, a kid's theatre camp hosted by Newman University Theatre Department, is now accepting registrations. The camp dates will be June 11th through 18th at Newman University in Wichita, KS. Kids ages 11-20 are eligible, and campers under 11 years can be day campers. The campers will arrive the afternoon of the 11th, audition and rehearse all week for this year's production of Disney's The Little Mermaid. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs including "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl," and "Part of Your World." Broadway Academy of Performing is now in its 19th year, and this is the second at Newman University.

The campers of Broadway Academy of Performing consist of residents from the five state area. While in rehearsal, they are directed by professionals in the music, dance and theatre industries. Campers will live on campus while preparing for the performance. Past productions include The Sound of Music, Godspell, Annie, Wizard of Oz and Cinderella.

The production will be in the De Mattias Performance Hall on the Newman campus on June 18th at 2:00pm and 6:00pm. Reservations not required. Tickets are $5 for students and seniors, $10 for adults.
