World Premiere of ‘in defence of adventurous mothers’ by Simon Marshall

The Glitch, Lower Marsh SE1 7AE | 9 July – 4 August 2025

Weekday evenings 7pm (except Tuesday),  plus 2pm on Saturdays

VAULT Creative Arts and The Glitch proudly present the world premiere of In Defence of Adventurous Mothers, the award-winning debut by Simon Marshall, winner of the inaugural VCA Playwriting Award.

Directed by VCA Artistic Director Oli Savage, this powerful new play explores the lives of Theo and Nancy, siblings navigating grief, identity, and legacy after the death of their mountaineering mother.

Inspired in part by the real-life friendship between the playwright’s mother of two and renowned mountaineer Alison Hargreaves - who lost her life on K2 in 1995 - Marshall’s intimate and daring script examines ambition, family, and the cost of carving out your own path.
