At last!

One thing - the Queen's currently doesn't look like the top pic, right? I remember it being more brown and smoky. with more windows on the Shaftesbury side.

Either side of the main tower.
Cameron is famed for small marquees. Look at the one that graced the Palace for 'Les Miserables' for 19 years!

Spot the marquee???

This is how the Queens has looked since the 1950s.
Only Cameron has covered it to such a great extent since he put 'Les Miserables' in.

re: A New Queen For September

Its original pre war time bombing facade was identical to the Geilgud.

There is no award for the ugliness of this building.

Was this meant to include the (smaller) build of the Sondheim theatre, or was that to be elsewhere in the empire?

The Sondheim Studio is to built on top of the building between the two theatres.
It can be seen on the side of the artists impression.
All has gone gone quiet on this project at the moment.

I think the studio theatre has been scrapped and it will just be a refurb on the current layout and new facade, thankfully.

Whats going to be Les Mis' fate? Will it close?

Really? Is that possible, surely to restructure that face of the theatre is a huge task.. not to mention noise! Matinees cancelled!?

Its mainly the facade that will be rebuild, internally the foyer can just be refigured away from that dreadful 60s decor into something more fitting to the rest of the building over time.
The main foyer house will stay and the front cladded in the old stone work.
Entry for the audience will be restricted at times but matinees will most certainly not be cancelled. Work will take place around them.

Cameron must have really looked into this because I would have health and saftey would have a lot of restrictions on this.

Anyhoo... great that the Queens will be restored to its old glory.

Of course he has, this has been in planning for years, even before he had the theatre.
All building work will be done by 5pm anyhow.

That'd be the best option.

What Cameron show could re-open it?

Saigon? Oklahoma? Witches?
I'd love to see Follies back, I think the casting could be exciting with some great women fit to play the roles.

I love les Mis and would not like to see this beauty go anywhere.

Anyway I predict Les Mis will close October next year, the reason for my inclination is that is when the show will have its 25th Anniversary, cool if does, then will go out on a high!

The cash cow will stay- and much will be made of the fact that it re-opens the new-look theatre.

In terms of the refurb- about time!

Is the show really still a cash cow? Smallish theatre, many tickets sold through promotions.

With the 25th anniversary looming, October next year, it is important to protect the integrity of this show! Anyway it is in safe hands with Cameroon, who I feel isn't a cash driven person and would preserve the integrity of Les Miserable.

It earns an absolute fortune theses days till. I cant see him closing this anytime in the next 5 years.
In New York he made the mistake of closing it, had to take it back only for it to nit catch on again.
Box office in London has never slipped low enough for him to even think about a closure here.
The Queens, tho not the perfect theatre for this production, is the perfect size economically.
Damn it!
lol

Would Les Miserables fit in the Novello? If it would why not move it there (ignoring an Inspector Calls for my idea to work) and then reopen the Queens with a big production, maybe Miss Saigon (as suggested above) or something new).

would Miss Saigon really fit in The Queens...if we're to have any sort of revival..it needs to be BIG!
