Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again!#1

So the Aussie theatre industry's worst kept secret has been revealed today - Mamma Mia will make its return to the Australian stage in October playing Sydney's Lyric Theatre. The show was last seen in Melbourne where the original tour played its final performance after over 1500 touring the nation.

Oddly it is being billed as the 10th Anniversary Tour, when the original Aussie production opened in 2001. Huh?

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again!
The main trio are Jenny Vuletic as Tanya, Anne Wood as Donna and Lara Mulcahy as Rosie (reprising the role she played in the original Aussie production as well as in the West End). Michael Cormick, Australian theatre icon, will play the role (previously butchered by Pierce Brosnan in the film) of Sam.

Isn't it the 10th anniversary of the original production this year?

Pierce Brosnan was nowhere near as bad as the gentleman I saw playing Sam in the West End last year. It was, I believe, the first night of a new cast; but ALL three dads and Sky were pretty terrible. When I saw the film I thought they were just casting in the same way they did for the stage show - do they normally get people who can sing to play the parts?

Conversely, Meryl Streep wasn't a patch on the magnificent Linzi Hateley...

Mamma Mia, ech. Why? What did we do to deserve this? Just when things were going well too.

boyfromoz2 you may be interested to know that the current show auditioning here is PHANTOM 2. This is the production which will open in Shanghai (w/Australian cast). It will then return and tour Australia.
