Great news for a worthy production. I hope this shows go from strength to strength. Nothing like seeing the underdog succeed!

Oh, excellent news!!! That means I might have a chance to see it again. I'm hoping to be back in London in February sometime.

Good for it, shows that a new Musical can come into the West End and prove a success.
Everything in life...is only for now.

That's both excellent and sad. The longer it's going to be around, the less urgent it is that I see it. At this rate, I may not get to see it for a while. re: Zorro Extends and breaks record

But it's excellent that I have a while in which to see it. re: Zorro Extends and breaks record

I'm really interested in seeing it.

I mean, critics usually don't bother me in the slightest...but the fact they like it is quite intriguing.

Although, if that's the logo/poster for it, have to say i'm not a fan of how they're marketing it. It's not bad per say, but it just looks very uninteresting, almost cheesy actually.

They could have made it a lot more slick, the 'Z' carved into something, the mask and the sword...they're more iconic, plus it means it doesn't matter if the cast matches the poster.

Speaking again to staff at The Garrick last night they said that the Cast Recording should be recorded and on sale by the end of November.
'Zorro' is the first show to play to all three levels of The Garrick at almost all of its performances. The producers are now more than happy to throw money at the publicity for it now that it has settled in. I think this will be around for a good year or two and deservedly so!
(some of these comments I've already posted on a few different thread but thought it better to bring it to the proper 'Zorro' posting here!)
A young actress with Noel coward after a dreadful opening night performance said to him 'Well, i knew my lines backwards this morning!'' Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'

I'm feeling quite blue at the moment, so I'm going to attempt to plug the hole in my soul with 'Zorro' and 'Romeo & Juliet' on Thursday. Please tell me that at least the former will cheer me up...

Weez, there is a video on YouTube, put up by West End Theatre, that will give you an idea what the show is like. I don't have a link handy (writing from work), but it should be easy to find.

I have to say that I was greatly disappointed by the show. For starters, the stage is way too small for a musical of this size and the clunky set changes really detracted from the show. Secondly, the cheesy/campy book was not funny. With the exception of Lesli Margherita's star-turn as the gypsy Ynez, I found very little to enjoy in this theme park attraction.
"It does what a musical is supposed to do; it takes you to another world. And it gives you a little tune to carry in your head. Something to take you away from the dreary horrors of the real world. A little something for when you're feeling blue. You know?"

So Weez, I'm unclear: have you seen it at this point (September 24) or not?

Yes! I have!! I enjoyed it a great deal; it's not exactly high art, but if you want flamenco dancing, sword-fighting, and a lot of tongue-in-cheek humour, go for it.

Personally, I enjoy productions that feature shirtless men, sword-fighting, and fake blood, so really, it's almost like they went "hey, Weez is going to see a lot of plays at the moment; how can we lure her back to musical theatre?". re: Zorro Extends and breaks record I'm currently trying to persuade my mother that she wants to see it so I can go again. I wouldn't pay full price, and you need to be careful not to sit anywhere with much of an overhang, but it was a jolly good night out. Lots of fun. :)

Awesome. Seeing it next week. THRILLED about the shirtless men, and I am not anywhere near an overhang. re: Zorro Extends and breaks record
