Anon2: I've heard from a reliable source that Grey Gardens may be opening in London. I've also heard who is being courted for the two female leads. One of them is Denise van Outen and the other is a West End all-time-great septugenarian super-trouper.

Musicalfan07: Julia McKenzie is a good guess but isn't correct. You're thinking along the right lines though. You'll love it when you find out who it is.

I'm waiting for a few more guesses before I say any more.

Where is musicalfan07? I'm sure with a second guess he would get it.

This show isn't coming to London. To say that the Broadway production was a financial flop is a VERY nice understatment.

Winston you have no idea if the show is coming to London, and i would say the people who live in the UK and work in the theatre industry have heard this then i would take their word over yours (no offense)
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna

I was going to say Sheila Hancock too. Who else? Sian Phillips? Diana Rigg? Elaine Stritch?

Winston89, it doesn't have to be the Broadway production it could be trimmed considerably to make it more financially viable and show generally cost less to mount in London.

Stage it on the empty plinth in Trafalgar Square- but please let it be a decent production! No gimmicky casting etc!
Ms Hancock will do it for me!

I think Denise Van Outen would have a hell of a job trying to keep up with any of the women mentioned here.

One name crops up in that list three times whereas the others only appear once. Either some of you have heard what I've heard
or you've used the search bar and spotted my love it/lovett clue.

Brownie points and an extra portion of ice-cream each for nshreeve, alterego and Wickedboy2. Shiela Hancock is being lined up for a London Grey Gardens.

I have to say I think she could do so much with that part and the idea of her in it certainly raises my interest in the show. Having only heard the CD, I think they'd need to make it less reverential and a bit more grungey for a British audience - I've seen first hand what Alzheimers can do, as have many of us, and something that glossed over the effects would annoy me whereas something that treated them seriously would interest me.

Winston: I didn't say the production was definite - what I did say was that if it happens soon, then it's likely to be these two leading the cast.

If DVO does this i may even not go because she is so wrong for that part! It would be painful to watch. Anyone knowing the show in the slightest will agree.

JayStarr from the Broadway Board attended a seminar recently held by one of the authors (Doug Wright) of Grey Gardens and was told that the London production isn't happenning. I think the person who told me what I posted above will be disappointed, as indeed I am.
