Man, I wish I could see this SO much.

I also want to see how well it's going to do. To put the selling power of Glee into practice!

Also surprised that SRB got star billing over Groff!

This is true.

I've yet to see any advertising saying "Starring Jonathan Groff...FROM GLEE!"

Most of the Gleeks probably don't know his actual name...

...or that he can actually sing.

Seeing the first preview. I'm so excited for this.

Should I expect a 'Woman-in-Black' type experience??

AQR, not really. It is far better written than 'Woman In Black', as good as that is.
'Deathtrap' has been rewritten slightly to bring it up to date too so to me that means bigger shocks than the original!

So annoyed I didn't realise this had started previews by the time I'm in London next week! Love that trailer hopefully I'll be back soon enough to catch it.

dgjbear- the original production was high camp from curtain up to finale! Im not sure if that would play well today, maybe thats where the rewrites have come in?

I saw the original West End production when I wasn't even in my teens: I remember it being full of shocks and twists and turns. It will be interesting to see what I make of it as an adult.

.....can I just say to ANYONE now intending to see this wonderful theatrical piece PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do NOT see the movie version until AFTER you see this production.

The movie version is just OK as stage to screen transfers go (the 80s were not famed for this kind of movie) but seeing it will TOTALLY ruin your enjoyment of the stage production

Just got back from the first preview.

All in all, an incredible, unexpecting, teriffic experience. Having no idea/concept of this was about, I found myself on the edge of my seat throughout the duration of the whole play. Without spoiling anything, the shocks and thrills are built up very well, as the tension which is being created by the characters and the space they're in, really transcends a great effect on you and I felt really feel nervous of what was going to happen.

A superb cast - an absolute honour to see Simon Russell Beale perform, Estelle Parsons is very funny (having seen her in August: Osage County, it's amazing to see she has the comedy chops as well the dramatic) and Jonathan Groff did a fine job in his West End debut. I could tell that the actors had really comitted to this piece of theatre and for a first preview, this is great shape.

If anyone's looking for thrilling (and funny) night out, then you're in for a treat.
Everything in life...is only for now.

Should a person who has no ability to see this production watch the movie, or should I read the script, or wait for a production to open near me? When I was eleven, there was a production at a theater near me, but I knew nothing about the play and had no interest. Now, I'm quite curious.

I would urge anyone wanting to see this play to try to stay completely 'unspoiled'. It's been several years since I saw the film but recently enough for me to know the major plot twists (unfortunately).

That being said, I really enjoyed the first preview. SRB mined a fine seam of comedy from his sardonic portrayal of Sidney Bruehl, Jonathon Groff was adorably gauche / galvanising as and when the plot demanded and I thought Claire Skinner was superb as Bruehl's skittish wife. Great light relief from Estelle Parsons as the over-qualified (i.e. psychic) nosey neighbour too.

The costumes / staging were very reminiscent of the film. See this production first and then watch the movie. I wish I had!
Seen some shows in my time....

Seeing it on Wednesday and can't wait, haven't been to a West End play in ages so I'm looking forward to it.
