Looks like its back on tour. Have to say I really enjoyed BKs production, seen it on tour a few times.

I just hate 'No Matter What' with a passion!

Awesome show I loved it, I did not see the original at the Aldwych Theatre, with regret, but saw the show at the Palace.

The trade off between The Man and Swallow in 'Nature of the Beast' is awesome, great story, my 2nd favouite Webber show.

Kenwright didn't fancy taking on the New York critics after how they layed into 'Blood Brothers'.
As bad as 'Whistle Down The Wind' was/is, I did wish he had taken it to New York and shown them that a UK producer has more guts than any living US producer could hope to ever have.
In its 4 months in Washington DC it became know as 'Whistle Down The Drain' as director, the one and only Hal Prince, demanded $ after $ to get it on its feet. it never found them.

'Blood Brothers' on Broadway got really panned but he said 'fcuk you' to the critics and the show ran an amazing 850 performances.
'9 To 5' producers and many others could learn a lesson or two from him- bloody cowards!

That's right it did debut in Washington, under the direction of Harold Prince, it was meant to make its Broadway debut before the West End, at the Martin Beck Theatre, which has been renamed Al Hirschfeld.

I would like to see it take Broadway in a theatre in the region of 1000 seats, hard to predict how well/bad this will do. Might be wise to do a short stint at the Papermill before considering a transfer?

Blood Brothers had a horrid time on Broadway with reviews, but done amazingly well considering, its on the list of Broadway long runs, which is a amazing feat.

The beautiful 1961 film version.
The movie and subsequent stage shows were based on the best selling book by Mary Hayley Bell, mother of Hayley.

I do like Whistle Down the Wind although I'm not keen on the Kenwright production, the music and songs are very good and while I think it works, I'm not sure why they decided to change the location from Lancashire like in the film to Louisiana.

I saw it twice on its filler stint at the Palace theatre and really liked it (but I liked it at 10 or 15 not at 50!).
No Matter What is one of my favourite songs but I absolutely cannot stand the boyzone version which is invariably the one that goes onto compilations.
