The London production of Mary Poppins will play it's final performance on January 12th, 2008, ahead of an upcoming UK tour.

Yet to be officially confirmed from the production, the Daily Mail have reported that Mary Poppins, currently in it's third year at The Prince Edward Theatre, will close in London on January 12th 2008 and launch a massive UK Tour. It is believed that Cameron Mackintosh, who has produced shows such as Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Phantom and the theatres current tenant, Mary Poppins, will bring in Jersey Boys, Broadway's high flying success musical based on Frankie Valli.

Mary Poppins opened originally in London back in December 2004, where it gained terrific reviews and enjoyed virtually a year's sell-out business. At the time of closure it is rumoured the show would have taken over 60 million in the UK Box Office.

In the Autumn of 2006, Mary Poppins opened on Broadway at The New Amsterdam Theatre where it is enjoying huge success. The show in New York has just received a stack of Tony Award Nominations including Best Musical and a nomination for Brit Gavin Lee, who originated the role of Bert in London before reprising his wonderful performance on Broadway.

Jersey Boys is expected to land at London's Prince Edward Theatre in the Spring of 2008, although that production has not been confirmed.
