Amanda Abbington stars in Molly Davies' new play GOD BLESS THE CHILD, beginning tonight, November 12 at the Royal Court Upstairs. Artistic Director of the Royal Court Vicky Featherstone directs.

She will play "an education official who tries to introduce a new teaching system into a primary school but is taken to task by an 8-year-old boy over how children are treated."

The Royal Court describes the play: "'Badger Do Best' has landed, bringing with it a new world of rules and regulations. But the kids are fighting back. Tired of being guinea pigs, in yet another government scheme, can the class of 4N bring down the education regime set to pacify them? After years working in the classroom, Molly Davies imagines a mutiny of eight year olds."

Abbington currently stars as 'Miss Mardle' in Mr Selfridge, which will film its fourth and final season next year. She also plays 'Mary Morstan' in BBC's Sherlock.
