American Public University presents A Little Night Music with Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and Book by Hugh Wheeler.

Stephen Sondheim creates a stunning tour de force when he takes Ingmar Bergman's comedy of manners, Smiles of a Summer Night, and turns it into a musical of masterful execution and elegance. Set in 1900 Sweden, A Little Night Music explores the tangled web of affairs that surround actress Desirée Armfeldt and the men who love her. Both men, as well as their jealous wives, agree to join her and her family for a weekend in the country. With everyone in one place, infinite possibilities of new romances and second chances bring endless surprises.

Director David Porterfield has assembled a stellar cast to bring this show to the Old Opera House stage, including Chris Steele, Karilee Grossnickle, Zack Little, Denise O'Brien, Holly Legg, Jenna Kennedy, Nancy Jones, Ross Hudson, Jeanine Evans, Lee Hebb, Ed Conn, Paul Cabell, Karen Paone, Heather Mae Wilson, Amanda Willis, Katie Kennedy, Christine Brewer and Steven Brewer.

This wonderful musical won the Tony Awards for Best Original Score, Best Book and Best Musical when it first was performed on Broadway in 1973. The recent revival on Broadway featuring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury was nominated for Best Revival, Best Performance by a Featured Actress (Angela Lansbury) and Miss Zeta-Jones won the Tony for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical.
