The Tamburitzans present "The Shared Song"
One Performance Only | Saturday, April 18 at 7 p.m.
Known for their high-energy performances and brilliant cultural authenticity, The Tamburitzans promise an evening of unforgettable sights, sounds, and stories from across the European diaspora.
Audiences of all ages will be whisked away on a journey through bustling town squares and quiet countryside villages as "The Shared Song" showcases traditional music and dance from Eastern Europe-with a rousing detour through an Irish pub! From the soul-stirring harmonies of Croatian folk singers to the fiery footwork of Serbian kolo, the performance brings to life the pulse of centuries-old traditions. And don't be surprised if you find yourself tapping your toes to the unmistakable sounds of the bodhran (The heartbeat of the Irish pub. This hand-held drum may look unassuming, but in the right hands it's rowdy, rhythmic, and wildly contagious).
But this show isn't just about music and movement-it's about connection. In addition to our homegrown talent, The Tamburitzans' 2025 ensemble also includes talented student-performers from Kazakhstan, Serbia, and Spain, each of whom brings a unique personal heritage and perspective to the stage. For many of these artists, "The Shared Song" is more than a performance-it's a deeply meaningful tribute to their own cultures and a chance to share them with American audiences. "It feels like I'm telling my story, and the story of my country, through music," says Aleksandar Milkovic, who grew up surrounded by the jazzy music of the kafana. From the flamenco-infused spirit of Spain to the proud traditions of Serbia, these international artists remind us that art, like music, transcends borders.
With more than 85 years of history behind them, The Tamburitzans have enchanted generations of fans with their dazzling blend of tradition and innovation. "The Shared Song" continues that legacy, offering a celebration of diversity, unity, and the joyful rhythm that connects us all. Whether you're a lifelong Tamburitzans fan or new to the magic, this performance promises an evening you won't forget.
