Miss New York 2018, Nia Franklin, has teamed up with Sing for Hope, a nonprofit organization focused on transforming lives by using the power of the arts to help bring music to every corner of New York City and beyond. Franklin, a classically trained opera singer, will join Sing for Hope for two special performances as they celebrate music in the community on Wednesday, August 1, beginning at 1:00 PM. Full schedule below.

Before being crowned, Franklin began volunteering with Sing for Hope as an Artist Partner and will continue to help champion arts education for all and advocate for this cause on her journey to Miss America 2019.

Since 2006, Sing for Hope has partnered with over 250 nonprofit organizations, mobilized 3,500 artists in volunteer service, reached 40,000 schoolchildren, and placed 450 artist-created Sing for Hope Pianos throughout public spaces, hospitals, and schools - a symbol and celebration of art for all. 2018 will see the international expansion of Sing for Hope's programs to serve three Syrian refugee camps in Greece, bringing hope where it is desperately needed.

"In so many ways, Sing for Hope's programs embody the essence of New York City: creativity, diversity, freedom of expression, and fun! So it is perfect to have Nia Franklin, our longtime Sing for Hope volunteer and newly crowned Miss New York, continuing to share her art in our programs across NYC. Nia is a terrific example of the 3,000+ artists who power our Sing for Hope roster: passionate, generous creatives committed to the ideal of art for all." - Camille Zamora, Sing for Hope Co-Founder
