Aretha Franklin. John Farnham. Dusty Springfield. Shannon Noll.

These pioneers of music all have one thing in common: killer backing vocals. Backseat Diamond is the story of Mary, a backing singer who may have taken the word "killer" one step too far. Part love-story, part whodunnit and part rock concert, all set to the best Motown and rock songs of the last century.

With a rockin' set list (Ain't No Mountain High Enough, Son of a Preacher Man, You're The Voice and more), this hysterical and outrageous evening is "anchored by a leading lady with talent to spare whose criminal intent is easy to cheer for" (The West Australian). So let your hair down and don't miss this hilarious musical comedy filled with your favourite Motown and 80s Australian Rock songs that will have you dancing the night away!

Backseat Diamond featuring Megan Kozak and Chris Wilcox, accompanied by Mark Chamberlain, played from the 22nd of September at The Knox Street Bar. After successful seasons at the Perth FRINGE WORLD Festival, the Adelaide Fringe Festival and in Melbourne, this musical comedy cabaret is set to make its debut in Sydney.

Born and bred in Perth, Megan Kozak graduated from the Musical Theatre course at the WAAPA in 2015. Megan featured as "Monica Lewinsky" in the 2016 BLACK SWAN Theatre Company production of "Clinton: The Musical". She has also appeared in several Fringe Festival shows, such as Dinner is Served, Backseat Diamond, Sincerely Yours and Cheek to Cheek from 2015-2017. Megan is soon to appear in Once We Lived Here at The Blue Room Theatre later this year.

Also a graduate from WAAPA, Upon graduation, Chris Wilcox immediately landed a position in The SoulMates, a Motown boy band group who completed a contract touring around Australia and New Zealand with Princess Cruises. He followed that up with Free To Air in 2017, and has spent the past year developing and producing his mock boy band show Wrong Direction preparing to take it to Melbourne later this year having already completed shows in both Sydney and Perth.
