THE COCO & RUBY VARIETY HOUR Set for M Bar Hollywood, 7/27-28

By:

Courtney Freed and Rebecca Johnson will star in The Coco & Ruby Variety Hour, a dazzling trip down memory lane and a peek into the hilarious and wacky lives of these two ginger dames. Coco and Ruby mysteriously fell out of their humdrum lives in 1940's Newark, New Jersey and into modern day Hollywood to live the dream! These two characters from the hit web series, "Coco & Ruby," written by Rachel Roderman and directed by Steve Brian, will shuffle-ball-change right out of your computer screen on July 27th & 28th to bring you a LIVE show full of old-school comedy and musicianship reminiscent of Lucille Ball and Betty Hutton. The Coco & Ruby Variety Hour will include many of your favorite WWII era standards, as well as vintage takes on contemporary pop songs.

This evening of music and laughter will also include the piano styling of Matt Schwartz as well as special guest appearances from actor/comedian Tony Rodriguez, crooners Adam Tunney and Mark Arthur Miller and Tony Award Winner Daisy Eagan. The dynamic duo of Courtney Freed as "Coco" and Rebecca Johnson as "Ruby" entangles old Hollywood glamour with clever, contagious revelry and absolutely dynamite, show-stopping vocals. For more info regarding the web series, visit www.cocoandruby.com.

Courtney Freed is a singer/actress with has an extensive resume including cabaret and regional theater. She has performed in nightclubs all over the country and now performs regularly with the Johnny Holiday Program at Maxwell Demille's Cicada Club downtown. Her most recent joy is playing "Coco" in the dynamic web series, "Coco and Ruby" which premiered on the web in June.

Rebecca Johnson has been acting and singing in LA for almost nine years after cutting her teeth on the NYC boards. She has appeared in numerous shows around town including The Real Love at the Pas. Civic Auditorium, Pippin at the Mark Taper, Silk Stockings at MTW, and Children of a Lesser God with Deaf West Theater. She was a regular at First & Hope's Broadway's Best cabaret downtown all last year and sung her way onto NBC's Community as well as guest-starring on ABC's The Middle and co-starring in the Lionsgate vampire spoof movie Breaking Wind. Rebecca teamed up this year with Courtney Freed to produce and star in the hilarious web series Coco & Ruby and the rest is history.
