Jennifer Holliday delivered a piece of her signature anthem live after Jennifer Hudson put her on the spot with a direct request during a recent episode of THE Jennifer Hudson SHOW. The moment centered on Hudson asking Holliday to sing a portion of "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going," turning the segment into an impromptu vocal showcase in front of the studio audience. Check out the video here!

Holliday's signature and breakout role as "Effie White" in the original Broadway musical Dreamgirls in 1981 led to numerous accolades including a recording contract with Geffen Records. Her debut single "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going", released on the Dreamgirls: Original Broadway Cast Album (1981), became an number-one R&B hit and earned her a Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance in 1982.

Hudson took on the role of "Effie" in the 2006 film adaptation of Dreamgirls, for which she won an Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress. Hudson is set to produce the upcoming Broadway revival of the musical.

With a book and lyrics by Tom Eyen and music by Henry Krieger, the upcoming new Broadway production of Dreamgirls will be directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award nominee Camille A. Brown. The original Broadway production was directed and choregraphed by Michael Bennett. The production was originally set to begin performances in Fall 2026, but has now been pushed back, as BroadwayWorld previously reported.
