Video: WANTON Cast Shares Rehearsal Footage Ahead of Southwark Playhouse Run
Cast members discuss media consumption and who profits from the stories being told.
A new behind-the-scenes clip from Southwark Playhouse offers a glimpse inside the rehearsal room for Wanton, a new play running there from 26 to 29 August. The footage features cast members discussing the production and the themes at its core, with the video posing the question at the heart of the piece: "What media are you willing to consume and who really profits from the stories?"
Wanton is written by Georgie Dettmer, who has recently been shortlisted for a Stage Debut Award for Best Writer. The production is performed by students from Oxford School of Drama's One Year Course, bringing early-career actors to the Southwark Playhouse stage for a short run.
The rehearsal video gives audiences a preview of the ensemble at work before the show opens, capturing cast members reflecting on the production and the questions the play raises about media and storytelling.
Details on tickets and performance times for Wanton are available through Southwark Playhouse's website, with the run scheduled for four days in late August.
