Dorset Theatre Festival will be opening its annual New Play Reading Series with a piece by Polish-born, New Jersey-raised playwright Martyna Majok who recently won the David Calicchio Emerging American Playwright Prize. The reading will be directed by DTF favorite Adrienne Campbell-Holt, known to regional audiences for her acclaimed productions of Theresa Rebeck's The Scene and RED, starring Tim Daly. Campbell-Holt is also the Founding Artistic Director of Colt Coeur. She has directed the world premiere production of several plays including Dry Land by Ruby Rae Spiegel (Colt Coeur at HERE) and Greg Moss's REUNION at South Coast Repertory. She is a Time Warner/Women's Project Lab Fellow, and a recipient of the EST/Sloan Grant and the Jerome Foundation/Tofte Lake Fellowship

"Dorset's new play reading series offers playwrights, directors and actors the unique opportunity to collaborate over multiple days in the most beautiful locale," says director Campbell-Holt. "This workshop time plus the culminating reading, for a friendly, savvy audience, will give the team tremendous insights into what may or may not be working in the play and will hopefully be the beginning of relationships with playwrights that will be a part of DTF programming in seasons to come."

This year's New Play Reading Series will take place at the Marble House Event Barn as part of an ongoing collaboration between the Dorset Theatre Festival and the Marble House Project. "The Marble House Project is a very exciting new arts organization in the community and we are thrilled to be working with them on our New Play Reading Series this summer," says Dina Janis, Artistic Director. "It's an artistically stunning location for our playwrights and performers to work on these wonderful new plays."

Majok's play explores the personal relationships of disabled people in the modern world, from friendship to romance. "This is a wonderful, thoughtful piece that we are proud to be bringing to Dorset," says New Play Coordinator Ashley Connell. "It offers an honest, engaging portrayal of a community that sometimes lacks representation on the stage, and that is exactly the kind of work that DTF wants to offer."

The reading will take place on June 22nd at 7 pm at the Event Barn at the Marble House Project, 1161 Dorset West Road. Tickets and info are available by calling (802) 867-2223 or online at www.dorsettheatrefestival.org.
