Dorset Theatre Festival will present Travels with Mark Twain, from tonight, September 18th through the 20th at the Dorset Playhouse. Travels with Mark Twain stars Tony Award winner Ron Crawford as the renowned American author and satirist in a one-man show based on Twain's famous traveling lecture series, and will feature readings from some of his most beloved works including Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn and Adam and Eve. Travels re-creates Twain's lectures from a hundred years ago, his adventures as a steamboat pilot on the Mississippi, his mining days out West, the Hawaiian Islands, and his first tour of Europe along with his caustic, humorous observations (and a few tall stories).

The production follows last year's successful production of A.M. Dolan's This Verse Business, featuring Gordon Clapp as poet laureate Robert Frost. "It's important to us that we are presenting accessible, educational content for the students of the region," says Artistic Director Dina Janis "These plays are really helpful to students who are just starting to engage with these great literary works; they help to build a context for the reading." To that end, DTF will present two special educational matinees on Thursday and Friday, September 18 and 19, at 11 am with special subsidized tickets for local students (thanks to the Price Chopper Golub Foundation), in addition to regular evening performances.

Performances will run tonight, September 18th through the 20th at 8 pm at the Playhouse. Tickets are $30 for adults and $18 for students. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 802 867 2223 or visit www.dorsettheatrefestival.org.
