Priscilla Costa is bringing her edgy, and unconventional one-woman hit, Mona Monaé to the Montreal Clown Festival (Les Festival des Clowns de Montréal). This shameless and hilarious romp was a hit of the 2015 Vancouver Fringe Festival and is a brave and courageous solo bouffon show that tackles gritty material in a playful way. It's a full plate of sass with an extra side of ass. A maniacal dance on a tightrope balanced between perversion and ecstasy, this wild ride has made past audiences howl with pleasure! Mona Monaé shows October 1 and 2 at the Mainline Theatre.

Mona Monaé has a hunger deep down inside and she wants satisfaction! Ricocheting between carnal desire, self-discovery, loving and hating herself, Mona explores the discombobulating reality of living in a society that expects one thing and demands another. Amidst the hoarded remnants of messy one-night stands and sweaty handshakes, Mona digs deep inside her crusty dank cellar for treasures of extinction and a supreme feeling of contentment and wholeness. By shaking her bodacious booty at sexuality and spirituality Mona lights up the world with her ferocious joy and defiant presence.

Mona Monaé...not for the faint of heart

"Mona lights up the world with her ferocious joy and defiant presence."

"She is terrifying and delightful at the same time... a really captivating performer" Shameless Productions, Biltmore Cabaret

When art-school became too suffocating and heady for a young and saucy Priscilla Costa, she stepped into her first Clown du Bouffon class taught by Cirque du Soleil's Massimo Agostinelli, who now boasts her as his first 'Bouffon protégé'. It is in that arena where she reunited with her perverted radiance and found uninhibited joy and play within the post-modern world of empty canvases and long essays. Working her magic, and her ass, Priscilla graduated from Emily Carr University with a Major in Clown & Performance Art. Over the years Priscilla has trained with clown/comedy specialists including: Massimo Agostinelli, Gina Bastone, David MacMurRay Smith, Ian Wallace, Deanna Fleysher, Kevin McDonald, Sonia Norris, Jef Johnson and Philippe Gaulier. She has wowed and wooed crowds from Vancouver to Portugal where she combines the misery of her ancestors with the freedom of her bright clown spirit. Priscilla also loves teaching performing and body presence workshops to various ages from time to time and has recently graduated from Langara College with a certificate in Advanced Integrative Energy Healing.

"Priscilla Costa had the audience roaring with laughter and eating out of the palm of her hand. (...)This show is a must see." -Lori Watt, Plank Magazine
