London-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist AK Patterson brings her signature style to the Elgar Room, with support from Matthew Herd.
AK Patterson's distinctive sound is defined by an unconventional approach to songwriting and her mastery of unusual guitar tunings. Having been compared to Jeff Buckley, she personally defines style as modern chamber pop fused with the melancholic spirit of 90s Lilith Fair.
Her performances centre on storytelling - a skill she honed during her youth, playing violin and guitar in the back of an Irish pub. Through her exploration of dark and complex themes, Patterson crafts songs that find hope in the human experience. Jailbird, her most recent EP, draws from her time spent working in a men’s prison, and personal struggles with heartbreak and isolation.
