TWELFTH NIGHT to Return to The Dukes Lancaster With All-Female and Non-Binary Cast
HER Productions brings Channique Sterling-Brown, Hannah Ellis-Ryan, and Beth Vyse to the Lancaster stage.
The Dukes Lancaster will welcome HER Productions back once again for their redefined adaptation of Shakespeare’s ultimate romantic comedy, Twelfth Night! Performances will run 19-21st June.
As per their tradition of reimagining Shakespeare’s work with an all-female and non-binary cast this production has three Coronation Street fan favourites CHANNIQUE Sterling Brown, Hannah Ellis-RYAN and BETH VYSE all playing key roles.
Shipwrecked and separated from her twin, Viola washes ashore in Illyria. Disguising herself as the suave Cesario, she enters the service of Count Orsino, who pines for the aloof Olivia. But as Viola navigates tangled desires and mistaken identities, love blossoms in unexpected places.
Since 2017, HER have been redefining Shakespeare with their groundbreaking annual tradition that reimagines the Bard's works through an all-female and non-binary cast.
Directed by Kayleigh Hawkins and Stuart Crowther, HER Production’s Unseemly Shakespeare adaptation of Twelfth Night stars Hannah Ellis Ryan as Viola – she has produced over 30 independent theatre productions and as an actress she has appeared in ‘COCK’ by Mike Bartlett, Othello (North East Tour), A Dolls House (Elysium Theatre Company) and over 30 episodes of Coronation Street (playing Hannah Gilmore – the daughter of Liz and Jim McDonald). She has also produced short-films with Brew Up Productions, the latest of which 'Filter', won Best Short at the British International Film Festival, which Hannah also wrote and starred in. In 2025 Hannah was awarded the Olwyn Wymark Award for her work in new writing by the Writers Guild of Great Britain.
Alongside her, Beth Vyse, who has most recently appeared as series regular Bridget in Coronation Street and as Sister Levi in Everyone Else Burns, plays Sir Toby, as well as Channique Sterling Brown appearing as Feste, who is best known for playing Dee-Dee Bailey on Coronation Street.
Further cast are LUCIE BROWNE as Sebastian; KASSIE Jay Ellis as Sir Andrew; JESSICA MANNION as Olivia; ANGELA HEENAN as Orsino; SOPHIE ELLICOTT as Antonio; FRANKIE GOLD as Malvolio; MAYA DHOKIA as Maria and BETH SIME as Valentine.
