Theatre Tulsa Kicks Off New Year With Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

Theatre Tulsa's first production of 2019 will be the blockbuster Disney hit Beauty and the Beast.

Adapted from Walt Disney Pictures' Academy Award-winning 1991 animated musical film of the same name, "Beauty and the Beast" tells the story of a cold-blooded prince who has been magically transformed into an unsightly creature as punishment for his selfish ways. To revert into his true human form, the Beast must first learn to love a bright, beautiful young woman whom he has imprisoned in his enchanted castle before it is too late.

The original movie was adapted to a Broadway musical production three years later, as Disney's first venture into Broadway. The show features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and book by Linda Woolverton.

"Beauty and the Beast" premiered on Broadway in 1994, and was a massive commercial success. It ran on Broadway for 13 years, becoming Broadway's 10th longest-running production in history.

Theatre Tulsa's cast stars Margaret Stall as Belle and Drew Rosene as Beast. Other featured actors include: Robbie Bennett, Jack Maricle, Travis Guillory, Kara Staiger, Nicholas Cains, Tabitha Littlefield, Lori Decter Wright, Trace Herrera, Pat Hobbs, Jacob Brockunier, Andrea Avey, Cristen Burdell, Kia Dorsey

The ensemble features: Holly Akbar, Andrea Avey, Karmen Blessing, Cristen Burdell, Kolby Cardwell, Kaci Coldren, Troy Cope, Kia Dorsey, Faith Fizer, Russell Herrera, Lenora Martin, Amanda Merkel, Tatum Nelson, Leah Parker, Hunter Potter, Laura Reeder, Natalia Rossi, Kymber Sage, Lauren Steele, Caleb Stirewalt, Megan Wilson, Stephen Zenishek

The production is directed by Theatre Tulsa artistic director Sara Phoenix, and choreographed by Pete Brennan.
