Heller Theatre will present "Hannah and Martin" by Kate Fodor at Clark Theatre April 3 & 4 at 8pm, Sunday April 5 at 2pm.Tickets are $10 and all money received will go to help send the production to the regional contest in Texas.

Heller Theatre has moved to the new location at Henthorne Park (4825 S Quaker) but is not ready to open. Clark Theatre (which is run by the same staff) will host a few of the Heller productions until the building is ready to open.

The play "Hannah and Martin" by Kate Fodor, is based on the true story of the relationship between the Jewish political theorist Hannah Arendt and the renowned philosopher Martin Heidegger. In Germany in the 1920s, Heidegger and Arendt have a tumultuous love affair while he is a professor and she is his admiring student. But as the National Socialist come to power, Heidegger uses his fame and brilliance to help further the goals of the Nazi party. After the devastation of World War II, Arendt, who has fled to America and has become a respected public figure in her own right. She returns to Germany where she struggles to come to terms with his involvement with the Nazis and to understand what he still means to her.

David Gray plays Heidegger and Harriet Chenault, who one best actress at the Oklahoma State Conference plays Hannah Arendt. Julie Tattershall, who won the Best Director Award at the State Conference,directs the production. Anthony Batchelder is technical director. This production will be one of two plays representing Oklahoma in the Regional Festival in Kerrville, Texas on April 15-19, 2009.

Tickets are $10 and all money received will go to help send the production to the regional contest in Texas. The play is for mature audiences and has adult themes.

Heller Theatre and Clark Theatre are part of the Park and Recreation Department of the City of Tulsa. Heller has been producing contemporary plays since 1981. Heller Theatre is celebrating 27 years of producing quality, unique theatre for the Tulsa area. The same three member staff (Julie Tattershall, Frank Gallagher and Erin Scarberry) operates and manages both Clark Theatre and Heller Theatre.
