Hamnet de Chloé Zhao, estrelando Paul Mescal, a vencedora do Olivier Award Jessie Buckley, Emily Watson e Joe Alwyn, conta a história de amor entre William (Mescal) e Agnes (Buckley) Shakespeare durante o século XVI, juntamente com seu amado filho Hamnet. Mas, em pouco tempo, a tragédia atinge a família, resultando em um desgosto que serve de inspiração para sua peça Hamlet.
Hamnet é baseado no romance best-seller de Maggie O’Farrell de 2020, do New York Times, que também foi adaptado para o palco por Lolita Chakrabarti, e foi recentemente encenado no West End em uma produção dirigida por Erica Whyman.
Entre outros notáveis vencedores do Critics Choice estavam One Battle After Another, nomeado Melhor Filme, e Paul Thomas Anderson recebeu o prêmio de Melhor Diretor.
