The Sony Centre For The Performing Arts Presents BHARATI, 2/9 & 10

By:

Audiences will soon bask in the wonder of India at the Sony Centre For The Performing Arts when the musical masala BHARATI returns February 9th and 10th 2013, for three performances only! Prior to each performance, the Sony Centre will play host to a full service Indian Bazaar created in collaboration with MyBindi.com exclusively for BHARATI ticket holders. Audience members can shop exclusively from vendors selling an array of clothing, jewelry, accessories and home décor, plus indulge in free henna tattoos and enjoy a delicious dinner menu created by Toronto's 5thElementt restaurant.
With a population of over 1.2 billion people, India is a bountiful source of rich cultural history from its food and music to its clothing and dance, each varying in style from region to region. One of the most iconic staples of Indian culture is the clothing, specifically the sari, which dates back to the 5thmillennium BC and showcases the most diverse weaves, fibers, and colours.
Indian cuisine, however, takes the 'Kheer' as India's most treasured staple and its dishes reflect a 5000-year old history of the country's flare and flavour. 5th Elementt, one of Toronto's premiere destinations for Indian cuisine, is pleased to present its special BHARATI menu serving up a delectable assortment of dishes available for sale to all BHARATI ticket holders 90 minutes prior to each performance. The menu features Tandoori Chicken Wraps, Butter Chicken with Rice & Roti, Vegetarian Samosas, Lamb Sheesh Kababs and more, all ranging from $3 - $9 per plate. The Sony Centre's Indian Bazaar will bring the best of Indian clothing, jewelry, food, and performance all under one roof!
BHARATI, which wowed audiences in the fall of 2011, returns to Toronto where more than 300,000 South Asians reside. Boasting an extensive company of actors, dancers, singers, acrobats, and musicians, BHARATI features 19 of the greatest hit songs of Indian cinema.
SONY CENTRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS, Toronto's first performing arts centre, has played a defining role in the cultural life of Toronto for more than 50 years. Today, the newly renovated Sony Centre's mission is to unite the global citizens of Toronto through great artistic experiences. In addition, the Sony Centre is dedicated to developing Toronto's younger audiences through family programming; workshops targeted towards school-aged audiences, an under-30 membership program, and other community initiatives.
