THEATRE SMASH proudly presents their inaugural production
TINY DYNAMITE
NORTH AMERICAN PREMIERE

Written by ABI MORGAN
Directed by ASHLIE CORCORAN
Starring STEVEN MCCARTHY, PERRIE OLTHUIS and DYLAN TROWBRIDGE

"People can haunt you, dead or alive."

At the age of six, Lucien watched as a bolt of lightning struck his
friend Anthony in the chest; an experience which forever bound the two
men.  Years later, wary, deliberate Lucien (Steven McCarthy,
Resurgence Theatre, Montreal Young Company) is a small business risk
analyst, while Anthony (Dylan Trowbridge, Shaw Festival, Theatrefront)
is an unemployed vagrant who rejects society's definition of normalcy.
Vastly different in temperament and outlook, the men share a common
trait.  They are lonely.

With the degeneration of their childhood friendship, the men's
relationship is reduced to a yearly visit.  Each summer, Lucien
collects Anthony off the streets and takes him to the country.  This
summer they retreat farther into the country, and farther into their
memories than ever before – this summer they meet Madeleine.

Madeleine (George Brown graduate Perrie Olthuis in her professional
theatre debut) is the very image of a woman Anthony and Lucien loved
in their youth.  As the brevity of summer haunts their every move, the
three become closer, creating a triangle of desire and confusion.
Inevitably, they must confront their past, recognize their present,
and jump – with little knowledge and no security – into their future.

"Like an old romantic movie that gets you where it hurts, Abi Morgan's
melting theatre piece is about two damaged men and the girl they love,
freak accidents and why if you wear rubber boots all your life you
will never feel the crackle of electricity in your heart.  If you want
to live you have to risk dying, and if you want to love you have to
risk losing."  -The Guardian
