2014-15 Tony Awards to (Potentially) Expand Number of Nominees

The Tony Awards Administration Committee, which is made up of a number of theatre executives, alumni and working artists revealed a slew of eligibility decisions today, as the group met for the second time this season. OSCARS Nominations Announced Live Today In All 24 Categories

Oscar producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron previously announced that actor Chris Pine, Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs, and directors Alfonso Cuaron and J.J. Abrams, today, January 15, will announce the nominations in all 24 Oscar categories at a special two-part live news conference at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

All nominees Theatre503, Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory, Park Theatre, Union Theatre, and the Orange Tree Theatre received a certificate and critic's speech for distinctive work.

Atlanta professional theatres continued their commitment to developing new work with a bounty of productions written or adapted by local playwrights. There are eleven such plays in contention for this year's Gene-Gabriel Moore Playwriting Award. The award, named after the primary founder of the Suzi Awards organization, recognizes an Atlanta-based playwright whose work was produced by a professional Atlanta theatre in the preceding season. A committee of area educators, playwrights and theatre professionals read each of the plays and choose the recipient.
