American Stage in the Park has been a celebrated Tampa Bay tradition for over thirty-years. Established in 1986, American Stage in the Park was first known for producing Shakespeare to audiences in and around Tampa Bay. American Stage in the Park expanded to included comedies and modern musicals presented under the stars each spring at Demens Landing Park in St. Pete.
Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, SPAMALOT adds swipes at Vegas glitz and Broadway conventions to the film’s anarchic spirit. The supremely silly musical retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, featuring a bevy of beautiful showgirls, cows, killer rabbits, and French people. (Did we mention a bevy of beautiful showgirls?)
“…Taunting French guards, Knights Who Say Ni, a despondent prince, poor peasants and killer rabbits. They are all familiar to fans of the film, but you don’t have to know a thing about Monty Python to get the jokes.” – Herald Tribune
Winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical, Monty Python’s Spamalot is the outrageously funny parody of the legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Spamalot features a bevy of beautiful show girls and hilarious dance numbers, not to mention flying cows, killer rabbits and French people. With book and lyrics by Monty Python alum, Eric Idle, and a musical score by John Du Prez and Eric Idle;Spamalot “raises silliness to an art form! (NY Sunday Times).”
