THE LITTLE PRINCE Lands At FreeFall For The Holidays!

This holiday season, freeFall Theatre Company is staging a story that has warmed the hearts of children and adults since the 1940's: Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's classic The Little Prince. This delightful adaptation by Rick Cummins and John Scoullar runs for thirty-three performances from November 24 through December 24.

The Little Prince is directed and designed by freeFall's Artistic Director, Eric Davis. Starring freeFall favorite Will Garrabrant, this beloved classic also features Trenell Mooring, Logan Wolfe, Michael David and Carolina Esparza.

An aviator crashes his plane in the Sahara Desert. There he meets a little prince who has left his home on Asteroid B-612 and its only other inhabitant, his beloved rose. Along the way he discovers a parade of extraordinary individuals from a king to a businessman to a fox. Each peels back another layer of what it means to be alive, ultimately revealing the importance of personal connection and sacrifice in a world that seeks to diminish that which connects us.

The Little Prince, or Le Petit Prince, is the most translated children's book in the world and was voted the best book of the 20th century in France. Translated into more than 250 languages and dialects (as well as Braille), selling nearly two million copies annually with sales totaling over 140 million copies worldwide, it has become one of the best selling books ever published.

After the outbreak of the Second World War, de Saint-Exupéry was exiled to North America. In the midst of personal upheavals and failing health, he produced almost half of the writings for which he would be remembered, including a tender tale of loneliness, friendship, love, and loss, in the form of a young alien prince fallen to Earth. An earlier memoir by the author had recounted his aviation experiences in the Sahara Desert and he is thought to have drawn on those same experiences in The Little Prince.

Since its first publication in the United States, the novella has been adapted to numerous art forms and media including audio recordings, radio plays, film screen, television, ballet, operatic works, and live stage plays such as the highly praised adaptation by Cummins and Scoullar.
