Jobsite Theatre Presents EDGAR & EMILY: A COMIC FANTASIA PERFECT FOR HALLOWEEN! Jobsite Theater, hot on the heels of their record-smashing season opener in Hedwig and The Angry Inch, continues their 20th Anniversary Season with a new comedy about two of America's most beloved dark literary figures just in time for Halloween! Joseph McDonough's Edgar & Emily is on stage Oct. 12 - Nov. 4 in the Shimberg Playhouse at the Straz Center where Jobsite is resident theater company.

In January 1864, reclusive poet Emily Dickinson receives a surprise guest: Edgar Allan Poe. Although Poe died 15 years prior (he doesn't seem to understand that), he arrives quite alive and just as energized by death as ever before - one could say death kindly stopped for Emily, after all. Though the evening pits the pendulum of both poets' personalities against the other in this comic fantasia, Emily and Edgar find they have a lot in common despite their differences. The heart tells the tale, you know.

Edgar & Emily stars Jobsite Artistic Associates Paul J. Potenza (Poe) and Katrina Stevenson (Dickinson) under the direction of Jobsite Producing Artistic Director David M. Jenkins. The show is designed by the award-winning combination of Scott Cooper (set), Jo Averill-Snell (lights), Katrina Stevenson (costumes), and David M. Jenkins (sound). This production is also the first partnership between Jobsite and the St. Petersburg College Department of Theater. Students and interns from that program are gaining valuable professional experience as the scenic construction crew for the show, working first at the college and then assembling the final set at the Shimberg Playhouse.

Jobsite has a long-standing history of producing plays for Halloween, it is the company's only consistent "holiday show" offering: they've brought to life the stories of Clive Barker, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker, among many others and are thrilled to add this production to their list. This Is only the second professional production of the play, the first came at Palm Beach Dramaworks earlier this year.

Edgar & Emily plays Oct. 12 - Nov. 4, 2018. Tickets start at $29.50 and increase by performance based on demand. Preview performances will be held Oct. 10-11 at 8pm, with all tickets starting at $18. Edgar & Emily is also available as part of a season pass for the remaining 5 shows of their season. Rush tickets to individual performances for students, seniors, military, and Theatre Tampa Bay members start at $18, and are available on remaining seats as of 30 minutes prior to curtain with cash and valid ID at the Straz Ticket Office window.
