Asolo Rep Adds BARITONES UNBOUND to 2013-2014 Season

By:

Asolo Repertory Theatre's 2013-14 season will go out with the booming sounds of BARITONES UNBOUND: Celebrating the UnCommon Voice of the Common Man. The classic baritone voice is back and bolder than ever in this momentous musical event featuring three dynamic singers. The show's preview will be Friday, June 6, opening night will be Saturday, June 7 at 8pm and the show will run through Sunday, June 29 in the Mertz Theatre. Creator and three-time Tony Award nominee Marc Kudisch will star in this charming musical journey, which was developed at ArtsEmerson with Director of Artistic Programs David Dower, and had its world premiere at Boston's Paramount Center Mainstage last October.

"Spotlighting the quintessential American voice - the baritone - this brand-new, must-see musical event features some of the finest music ever written for the male voice. Whether in opera, operetta or Broadway, no voice type has been more bold, more iconic, or more powerful than the baritone. BARITONES UNBOUND promises to be fresh, amusing, and thrilling - a true celebration of the American sound," said Michael Donald Edwards, Producing Artistic Director of Asolo Rep.

In the first act, the powerhouse trio belts out some of the most memorable baritone songs of all time, including classics from The Barber of Seville and Oklahoma! The stage is transformed into a musical man cave for the second act, complete with leather recliners, beer, and the sounds of the king himself, Elvis Presley, Neil Diamond and, of course, some Sinatra.
