American Stage Presents THE AMISH PROJECT, Beginning 4/12

By:

THE AMISH PROJECT is a fictional exploration of a schoolhouse shooting that took place on October 2, 2006 in Nickel Mines, PA. Characters are entirely fictional and are not meant to represent real people. It was this day that shocked the world when an Amish community displayed unprecedented condonation and compassion. This production inspires one with poetry and humor while dealing with loss and faith. THE AMISH PROJECT, a sensation at the New York International Fringe Festival, is an unforgettable tour-de-force about the mystical world of the Amish and the ultimate limits of forgiveness.

Todd Olson, is directing American Stage Theatre's production of THE AMISH PROJECT, which will be performed in one act with no intermission. Todd is our Artistic Director for American Stage Theatre Company and best known for directing such great works as Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and August: Osage County while currently directing When the World was Green (A Chef's Fable).

The cast consists of one actor, Katherine Michelle Tanner who will be playing all seven roles. The roles range from an amish girl to the widow of the gunman. Katherine Michelle Tanner is very familiar to our stage and was last seen as Nora in Ibsen's A Doll's House. American Stage audiences may remember her as Ivy in August: Osage County, Catherine in Proof, Ophelia in Hamlet, Catharine in Suddenly Last Summer, and Margot in Dial 'M' for Murder. Katherine is proud to be a member of American Stage Theatre Company. She holds her B.A. triple major from St. Olaf College and her M.F.A. in Acting from FSU/Asolo Theatre Conservatory.

In addition to Todd Olson's Directing and Sound Design, the Artistic Staff also includes; Greg Bierce as Scenic Designer, Saidah Ben Judah as Costume Designer, Ian Mills as Lighting Designer, Jerid Fox as Scenic Dresser and Properties Master and Timon Brown as Technical Director.
