American Stage Cancels Two Performances of BAREFOOT IN THE PARK
By: Gabrielle Sierra Jul. 25, 2011
Our performances of BAREFOOT IN THE PARK for July 27 and 28 are canceled due to the sudden death of a family member of one of the actors in the cast.
"We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this causes our patrons," said Todd Olson, producing artistic director at American Stage. "If you've already purchased tickets to these performances, please call our box office at 727-823-PLAY (7529) to reschedule and we'll give you a free ticket to see the hilarious Ann Landers' biography, THE LADY WITH ALL THE ANSWERS, on our Mainstage, or receive a refund."Neil Simon's BAREFOOT IN THE PARK is about those delicious, delirious and dicey first days of marriage. It's 1964, and newlyweds Paul (Gavin Hawk) and Corie (Samantha McKinnon Brown) are just starting their life together in a tiny, fifth floor Manhattan walkup. He's a straight-as-an-arrow lawyer and she's a free spirit always looking for the latest kick. On moving into their new apartment, the newlyweds are invaded by Corie's interfering mother as well as an aging lothario neighbor-in-the-attic. After a series of hilarious misunderstandings, Paul must figure out how to connect with Corie, who just wants him to be a little more spontaneous (running "barefoot in the park" would be a great start). Don't miss this sparkling, romantic comedy from the master of the form.Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening curtain is at 7:30 p.m.
