Bennelong in London is a world premiere play by Muruwari playwright Jane Harrison, directed by STC Resident Director and Wilman Noongar man Ian Michael. Gamilaraay actor Googoorewon Knox plays Bennelong alongside Biripi, Worimi, Wodi Wodi and Walbanga man Guy Simon as a young actor preparing to audition for the role of a lifetime. Set between the present day and the 1780s, the play depicts a time-bending conversation and burgeoning friendship between two First Nations men as they explore identity, history, and the story of Bennelong — the first Aboriginal man to visit Europe and return. The production features design by Emma White, lighting by Trent Suidgeest, and composition and sound design by James Peter Brown.
