From 27 to 30 July, Riverside Theatres will present an exciting co-production between Bell Shakespeare and Griffin Theatre Company, The Literati, a new translation of Molière's Les Femmes Savantes by Justin Fleming.

Skewering haughty pretention in a deliciously satirical fashion, The Literati follows the story of Juliet and Clinton, young lovers torn apart by Juliet's mother and sister, whose disapproval is of the most high-brow kind.

The Literati will be directed by Griffin Theatre's Artistic Director Lee Lewis and feature a stellar cast including Kate Mulvany (Julius Caesar), Caroline Brazier (Rake), Gareth Davies (As You Like It), Jamie Oxenbould (Camp) and Miranda Tapsell (The Sapphires).

Justin Fleming is an Australian playwright whose previous works include Riverside Production's Shellshock and Bell Shakespeare's Tartuffe. The Literati will see Fleming place Molière's 1672 French classic text in modern day Sydney with linguistic dexterity, wicked wit and ridiculous rhymes.
