Music at USD is home to a talented, energetic and committed community of faculty and student musicians. Students approach foundational coursework (music history, theory, composition and performance studies) in relation to politics, art, literature, religion and cultural studies. Our holistic curriculum prepares students for careers as professional musicians. Every semester, the department hosts 12-20 concerts, offering opportunities for students to enhance their performance portfolios and status within the music community. Performances include offerings from our eight student ensembles, guest opera singers and ensembles featuring our faculty.
