The Brandeis Department of Music offers students the opportunity to experience music as both scholarship and a process of creation and performance. We believe in uniting musical excellence with intellectual inquiry. At Brandeis, we help our students to awaken their creative identity within the context of one of the country's most progressive universities.
Founded by preeminent American composer Irving Fine, our department features a distinguished faculty of world-renowned composers, award-winning authors and scholars, instrumentalists, vocalists and conductors. We offer broad-based undergraduate majors and minors that combine the study of history, theory, composition and performance. Our nationally acclaimed graduate programs focus specifically on composition and theory, and musicology.

The UConn School of Fine Arts Department of Music will present two performances this week as part of the UConn Music Inspire Series. On Thursday, Oct. 9, Ensemble Origo returns with Saravanda! Dances of New Spain, followed by a solo piano concert by Eric Reed on Friday, Oct. 10, at von der Mehden Recital Hall. Both performances begin at 8 p.m. and tickets are $15.

Rehearsed readings of the musical comedy America's Next Top Kid Chef Showdown by José Casas and Jenn Hartmann Luck will be held on Saturday, June 21, at 7pm and Sunday, June 22, at 2pm at the Provincetown Playhouse, 133 MacDougal St. Whimsical Cosmo Ridley hosts a top-rated kids' cooking show where four young contestants compete for the title of America's best kid chef and a $100,000 prize.
