THE SECOND HURRICANE An opera by Aaron Copland with libretto by Edwin Denby August 7-30, 2025 8 PM Thursdays-Saturdays Additional performances 2 PM Sunday, August 10; Sunday, August 17; and Sunday, August 24. The Second Hurricane is a youth opera by Aaron Copland with libretto by Edwin Denby. Written specifically for young people and set during the Great Depression, it tells the story of high school students who become trapped on an island while working to rescue the victims of a hurricane. During the adventure, the students learn tolerance, courage, and the spirit of freedom in a time of danger.
