International music superstar Lionel Richie will headline The Muny’s annual summer-finale concert, continuing a storied tradition that returned to Forest Park in 2024.  The Muny Presents Lionel Richie, a one-night-only concert event, is at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29.

Richie is one of the most celebrated artists in music history, with a career spanning more than five decades. As a member of the iconic group Commodores and as a solo artist, Richie has sold more than 125 million albums worldwide and earned an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and four Grammy Awards, including album of the year for Can’t Slow Down. He has served as a judge on ABC’s American Idol since 2018.

“Since the return of Muny concerts two years ago, we’ve been blessed with unforgettable performances on the Muny stage to close each summer,” said Muny President & CEO Kwofe Coleman. “We’re thrilled to give our community another reason to come together and make lasting Muny memories — this time with the legendary Lionel Richie. We are honored to welcome Lionel to our stage and cannot wait for what we know will be a remarkable evening of music and celebration.”

Richie’s catalog of timeless hits includes “Hello,” “All Night Long (All Night),” “Say You, Say Me” and “Endless Love.” A Kennedy Center Honoree and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Richie continues to captivate audiences around the globe with his signature voice and unforgettable live performances. He joins Earth, Wind & Fire for a summer tour that runs through Aug. 14.
