School may still be in session, but it’s time for some hot “Summer Nights” with Town Theatre’s Grease! You know the story – “bad boy” Danny and “the girl next door” Sandy fall in love over summer break, but then part ways. Unexpectedly they end up together at Rydell High where Sandy assumes their love will rekindle. Danny, on the other hand, must balance his tough guy reputation while not letting Sandy get away.
Love birds Danny and Sandy are being played by Lee Saxton (The All Night Strut) and Caroline Quinn (Joseph…). The rest of the Rydell High gang includes Pink Ladies Mary Jayne Davis (Elf: The Musical) as Rizzo; Town newcomer Emily Awalt as Frenchie; Erin Niland (Cinderella) as Marty and Jane Cato (Bright Star) as Jan. Showing out as T-Birds are Alex Cowsert (Million Dollar Quartet) as Kenickie, Carlos Marquez (in his Town debut) as Sonny, Nathan Jackson (The Music Man) as Doody and Landon Watts (Shrek Jr.) as Roger. Bringing other iconic roles from the movie to the stage are Carol Beis as Miss Lynch and Clyde Green as our Teen Angel (both fresh from A Christmas Story: The Musical). Von Huber (The Play That Goes Wrong) takes on as Johnny Casino, Meg Greely (The Music Man) struts as Cha Cha and Toby O’Connor (Cinderella) is the smooth-talking Vince Fontaine. James Nolan (in his first Town appearance) as Eugene and Grayson Norene (Shrek Jr.) as Patty end up as the butt of many a joke.
Bringing lots of energy as the rest of the teen scene are Addie Andrews and Emmi Lee (of The Addams Family: School Edition), Jill Brantley (Buddy Holly), Connor Etcheson (Joseph…), Kelsey Graham and Makayla Hines (both of Cinderella fame), Brock Jones (Frozen Jr.), Brady Longerbeam (The Little Mermaid Jr.), McKinley Porth (Shrek Jr.), Mikey Ross and Jack Seezen (both of Elf: The Musical) and Liana Wiley (Jekyll & Hyde). Making their Town stage debuts are Gio Figueroa, Cassie Martin, Lilia Barfield, Maddie Niles and Zoe Phillips.
The show will have you dancing in the aisles as you sing along to some of your favorite hits like “Greased Lightning,” “We Go Together” and “Hopelessly Devoted to You.” Throw your mittens around your kittens and hand-jive the night away with the show that will make you want to stand up and shout, “A-wop-bop-a-loo-bop, A-wop-bam-boom!”
The show runs May 12-28 with 7:30 PM performances Thursdays through Saturdays and 3:00 PM Sunday matinees. Visit towntheatre.com for details.
