Magician John Tudor Teaches Children's Magic Workshop at CCT Today

By:
He's magical! He's mystical! And your child can be too, when Columbia Children's Theatre (CCT) presents John Tudor's Magic Workshop for Kids, today, March 8, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Back by popular demand after last season's sold-out event, the renowned John Tudor brings his special brand of magic and humor to the CCT stage for a command performance, followed by an interactive, hands-on, master class in the art of illusion for children ages 6 and up.

Held in CCT's cozy black box theatre, John Tudor's Magic Workshop for Kids begins with a private performance for workshop attendees. He will incorporate many of his theatrical illusions as well as his signature slight-of-hand work which always delights audiences in CCT's intimate performance space. After his performance, John will lead a hands-on interactive workshop bringing some of the "secrets" of magic to life for the workshop participants. Stressing imagination and creativity and focusing on theatricality and showmanship, John will teach students the basics of several simple illusions that they may take home and rehearse to perfection! All required special materials for these illusions will be provided.

The arts in general, and especially the art of magic, teach valuable life lessons and enhance social skills, self confidence, problem solving abilities, imagination, concentration, motor skills/dexterity and public speaking skills. Adults are welcome to stay and watch the magic happen, but are not required to.

Once called "the Shakespeare of Magic," the celebrated John Tudor has been bringing his special brand of heart-warming magic to audiences throughout the world since 1987. Tudor's mystic journey began at age six with amagic kit he received for Christmas. Since that very first magic kit, John has performed in theaters, on television, for Fortune 500 companies, and for schools and conferences worldwide. His shows are a "magical journey," an energetic mix of imaginative stories and state-of-the-art magic. Over the years, John has also generated rave reviews for his motivational magic and inspirational speaking. John's magic is born out of passion and theatre; and by pulling rabbits out of hats, he seeks to bring out the magic in everyone. His magic secret is his way with the audience. Everyone becomes part of a performance that "not just entertains, but leaves the audience with opened minds." - (Orangeburg Times) More information about John Tudor is available at tudormagic.com.

Columbia Children's Theatre is located on the second level of Richland Mall, 3400 Forest Drive in Columbia. The workshop will be held from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8.
