Kronos Quartet and Wu Man return to the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center Presenting Series on Saturday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m. A new program weaves together China-focused compositions by Philip Glass, Wu Man, and the reconstruction of A Chinese Home, a 2009 commission by the University of Notre Dame that was conceived of by Wu Man, David Harrington, and Chen Shi-Zheng.

This past weekend, the world premiere of Like Watchmen took place at Bethel College. Written by Bethel student Kayla Rundquist and directed by other fellow student Alex Price, Like Watchmen tells the story of three women who wait out a storm in a church for the return of their respective sailors from Lake Superior; two are wives, and one is a daughter. Over the course of 50 minutes, the brand-new play takes the audience on a whirlwind of emotional reveals, turmoil, and anguish.

This past weekend, Actors from the London Stage for Shakespeare at Notre Dame put on a unique rendition of William Shakespeare's classic, Romeo and Juliet. Taking place on a mostly barren stage except for a mixture of props, clothing items, and some chairs, five actors, dressed in plain clothing, played 21 characters among themselves in the star-crossed lover's drama.

Grammy-nominated Third Coast Percussion Brings New Rhythms to DeBartolo Arts Center

The DeBartolo Performing Art Center's acclaimed Ensemble-in-Residence, Third Coast Percussion (TCP) brings new music to the Presenting Series on Saturday, February 4, at 7:30 p.m. at the center's Leighton Concert Hall. The evening of contemporary music serves as the ensemble's final concert of their annual six weeks of residency at the University of Notre Dame. As part of their residency, Third Coast joins the St. Joseph County Library's 25th Annual Science Alive with a demonstration on sound waves developed with faculty in Notre Dame's College of Engineering. The group is in its fourth year as teachers and innovators premiering works commissioned by Notre Dame. The spring program features works by Brooklyn-based composer Christopher Cerrone and Hungarian composer Gyorgy Sandor Ligeti (1923-2006), as well as compositions by ensemble member Peter Martin and the first work collaboratively composed by Third Coast, all accomplished and active composers. The work by Cerrone is a University of Notre Dame commission and receives its world premiere at the concert.
