Wagon Wheel's Encore Production of AVENUE Q Kicks Off 9/1

By:

With Avenue Q, the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts closes the 2015 summer season with its second Encore production. Humans and puppets interact in this tale of twenty-somethings learning how to live and love in New York City. Think "Sesame Street" with adult themes, humor and song. The production opens Tuesday, September 1.

Winner of the Tony "Triple Crown" for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book, Avenue Q is part flesh, part felt and packed with heart. Avenue Q is a laugh-out-loud musical that tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named Princeton who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. There, he meets Kate (the girl next door), Rod (the Republican), Trekkie, Lucy and other colorful types who help Princeton finally discover his purpose in life!

Avenue Q opened off-Broadway at the Vineyard Theatre in March 2003, where it gained rave reviews, and was extended four times! It won the 2003 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding New Musical, as well as a nomination for the 2003 Outer Critics Circle Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical award. The ground-breaking musical opened on Broadway in July 2003.

Who should see Avenue Q? Adults love Avenue Q, but it is not appropriate for kids. Parental discretion is advised, although some may find the material great for teenagers because it's about real life. Parents should use their discretion based on the maturity level of their children.

Tickets are on sale right now at Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts or can be purchased online at wagonwheelcenter.org. The cost of admission is $32 for adults, $24 for seniors, $18 for students and $14 for children up to age 12. Call the box office at 574-267-8041 with any questions. The show premieres September 1 and runs through September 6. Times vary based on day. Presented by Parkview Warsaw.
