Wagon Wheel Theatre to Conclude Season with FOREVER PLAID, 8/14-24
There was a time when boy bands didn't make you cringe. In an age where social media wasn't the norm, "wholesome" was the flavor of the day. There was no Justin Bieber, no Backstreet Boys, no New Kids on the Block. Forever Plaid takes you back to the 1950's, where clean-cut, close harmony groups such as "The Four Freshmen" and "The Four Aces" crooned their harmonious love songs to the top of the charts. Forever Plaid is a musical revue of such an era and will make you laugh while you are warmed with music that is sure to evoke fond memories. The show runs August 14-24 at the Wagon Wheel Theatre in Warsaw.
While the music is reason enough to see the show, the combination of musical revue and the storyline is the reason the show has been such a national success. Forever Plaid is a story of second chances. Sparky, Jinx, Smudge, and Frankie met in high school and dreamed of recording their first album. On the way to pick up their plaid tuxedos, they were killed by a school bus full of Catholic teenagers who were on their way to see the Beauties on the Ed Sullivan Show. The boys have now been allowed to return to life to perform and record the album they dreamed of making.
The Wagon Wheel Theatre is renowned as one of the top professional regional theatre venues in the entire country staging Broadway quality shows in a unique and intimate theater-in-the-round atmosphere.
Forever Plaid runs August 14-24 only at the Wagon Wheel Theatre. Tickets for tickets range from $16-$34. Discounts are available for college students and on designated performances for seniors. For more information visit wagonwheeltheatre.org or call 574-267-8041.
